This paper reviews state-of-the-art models and approaches for solving a wide variety of public transit problems encountered at the strategic, tactical, and operational stages of the planning process, as well as during the operations. This review is not exhaustive as it mostly covers the recent contributions that have been applied or have the potential to be applied from our viewpoint. In certain cases, computational results are briefly reported to give an idea of the problem sizes that can be solved.
